Overview
Every Foxpress shared hosting account is backed up daily. Your files, databases, and email are protected automatically, with no configuration required on your end.
How It Works
Our backup system runs every night, capturing a full snapshot of your account. This includes your website files, all databases, email accounts, and cPanel configuration. Backups are stored separately from the live server, so even in the event of hardware failure or accidental deletion, your data can be restored.
What Gets Backed Up
- All files in your public_html directory and subdomains
- MySQL and MariaDB databases
- Email accounts, forwarders, and filters
- DNS zone records and domain configuration
- cPanel account settings, cron jobs, and SSL certificates
Restoration Options
Full Account Restore
Restores your entire account to its state at the time of the backup. This includes all files, databases, and email. Best for recovering from major issues like a compromised site or a failed update.
Partial Restore
Need just one database or a specific directory? We can restore individual components without affecting the rest of your account. Ideal for recovering from accidental file deletions or a bad plugin update.
Self-Service via cPanel
cPanel's Backup tools let you download copies of your home directory, databases, and email for your own safekeeping. Best Practices
While daily backups provide strong protection, we recommend a layered approach to data safety:
- Keep your own off-site backup of critical files and database exports
- Back up before making major changes (theme updates, plugin installs, migrations)
- Test your site after any restoration to confirm everything works correctly
